St George Foundation Grant sharing the joy of dance

Nicole Fitzsimons Foundation are very honoured to receive 2017 grant to promote dance with children and youth disadvantaged by financial hardship, disability and or distance.  Nicole was a talented and dedicated dancer who believed everyone should have the opportunity to experience dance lessons as it great for your physical fitness , self-esteem and your soul.

Dance From Your Heart is a five week program where children learn a dance routine to a popular song that is suitable to their age and ability with a professional dance teacher. The final week parents and other classes are invited to watch a performance.  The program focused on children in support classes in low socio-economic areas of Western Sydney and Illawarra.  Almost one thousand primary school children enjoyed Dance From Your Heart.

St George Foundation grant enabled NFF to partner with Sydney Dance Company to offer regional dance students the opportunity to experience dance with  professional choreographers and dancers. Masterclasses, workshops and a matinee were provided by the prestigious Sydney Dance Company to give these young dancers the opportunity that would be difficult because of distance and expense and an experience they will never forget. Over five hundred young dancers were reached in these regional areas that included Dubbo and Tamworth.

Thank you St George  Foundation for supporting dance programs to share  Nicole’s legacy.
