Last Thursday the Foundation held its first ever golf event at the wonderful Lakes Golf Club, home of the Australian Open for the past three years.
We were joined by an enthusiastic field of over 120 golfers keen to test their golfing prowess around the challenging Lakes layout. The weather was simply brilliant and ensured everyone was a winner even if they left the odd golf ball or two in the lakes around the course! Leading golf professional Paul Gow kindly devoted his skill and experience to our event both on and off the course and we are so appreciative for his dedication and support of our event.
Attendance then swelled in the evening as we were joined by further guests in the Clubhouse where we were thoroughly entertained over dinner by our MC Glenn Wheeler. His completely irreverent sense of humour kept everyone in stitches whilst we celebrated the prize winners and raised valuable funds for the Foundation through a range of great auction prizes. To top it off, Paul Gow gave us his insights on what it is like to play golf on the USPGA Tour which he did for well over 10 years.
All in all we raised over $30,000 for the Foundation to support its very important Travel Safety Campaign and to assist the disadvantaged who are seeking to improve their lives through participation in sport or the performing arts.
A special thank you to everyone who helped make the day and evening such a success particularly our sponsors who gave so generously and everyone who gave up their Thursday to join us for the event.
A great day had by all. Thanks again everyone, see you next year!
